Kid Friendly Halloween Ideas
Are you hosting a Halloween Party?
Are kids invited?
Here are some kid friendly ideas to keep the party a “spooktacular” event!
-
Decorate a haunted house
These kits can be found at Michaels or online at Wilton.com.
Why wait until Christmas to decorate a gingerbread house? These kits are also fun for the adults. One thing we have learned over the years… make sure the icing stays soft, otherwise it won’t stick to the house.
Decorate cookies
You can find pre made sugar cookies at your local grocery store. If you are a baker, you can use a variety of cookie cutters to give the kids an option. Ghosts and pumpkins are really easy to cut out and decorate. Having different colors of frosting and decorations to chose from is always fun.
Or.. if cookies aren’t your thing, you could decorate cupcakes. These cute cuppies were so much fun to make. The characters are actually suckers, so it’s a two in one treat!
REMEMBER! It will get messy! And that’s okay! Everything can be cleaned. Memories are worth it!
Pumpkin contest!
Don’t think you are limited to just carving… carving isn’t a safe idea for kids. This particular project was fun. One person chose to carve, one person (who hates the inside of pumpkins) decided to use caulk for a design and then painted it once the caulking was dry. The child of the house went to town with some paint.
Costume contest!
You can split the contest into multiple categories so everyone is a winner. Example- most creative, most lifelike, scariest, cutest, and funniest. The possibilities are endless. Make sure to get pictures! You could even take it one step further and have medals for the winners. Just an idea!
Remember to have some spooky music! Nothing too scary, but music is always a great way to set the party off on the right foot!
