Design and Decision Making
Although HiCaliber didn’t have a home in the Parade this year, we have in the past. We know the amount of time and energy that goes into preparing for the St. George Area Parade of Homes.
Let’s be honest though, there are very few people out there that can afford to buy a parade home. But, attending The Parade of Homes can be beneficial for homeowners.
For some of the following reasons:
If you are building you can get an idea of what exterior colors and design you like.
If you are remodeling you can see what flow/layout works best for you.
If you are in need of decorating/furniture placement ideas you can find inspiration.
If you want to update your bathroom you can see the latest trends.
If you your backyard needs some character you can see great examples.
You can see various kitchen designs.
It’s also a great way for builders to show their creativity. It’s comparable to an art gallery but for construction and design masterpieces.
Exterior
When deciding on exterior finishes for your home, it can become quite the frustrating task. When you have a chance to see 28 homes, inside and out, you can get more of idea what look appeals to you. A lot of the times, the Builder is actually at the home and you can ask them questions about elements they used. Suppliers for the home are usually in the garage with business cards too.
Layout
Sometimes your home may just need a different flow for it to work better for your family. By walking through multiple homes, you can visualize what might work best for you, and make adjustments where needed. We have found having a visual idea of what you like works best.
Decorating/furniture placement
Sometimes, when moving into a new place, or wanting to just freshen up your space you run into road blocks with how to place your furniture. When you are looking through magazines or Pinterest and you see these beautifully decorated rooms you think “what if.” By being able to walk through all the homes during the parade, you can see ways interior designers solve furniture challenges. You can also ask where they got the furniture and/or decorations if there is a particular piece you can’t live without.
Bathroom Update
Ideas – Ideas – Ideas… they were not in short supply this year. Different takes on vanities, interesting stand alone tubs, and AMAZING light fixtures were just some examples that gave inspiration for any bathroom remodel. Remember when browsing, what kind of functionality will you need in your bathroom? Do you have kids? Are you retired? There was something for every generation to see.
Backyard Heaven
The backyards at most parade homes are something from a dream. The possibilities are ENDLESS, and there are always designs and landscaping that will motivate for you to make that next step toward making a dream your reality. The pools are exciting, and the water features/fire pits are inviting. One of the coolest fire pit/water features we saw this year was a pond that had gas bubbles that turned into fire!!!
Kitchen Masterpiece
The latest appliances – eco friendly – energy efficient – and BEAUTIFUL!
The kitchens are something to talk about! Every one knows the kitchen is the heart of the home. Kitchens need to be welcoming and functional. The kitchens in the homes we saw were show stoppers. Details could be seen everywhere. Definitely a great way to get your own kitchen plan under way.
It’s nice to be able to see with your own eyes the use of backsplash with complimenting granite countertops and viewing how it all ties in with the flooring. Secret pantries were a huge trend. Most the viewers gravitated toward the kitchen area, making it difficult to get a decent picture, and for that we are sorry. But, you get the gist!
We admire the home builders who were involved with this years Parade of Homes. Saint George was definitely PACKED with guests from all over. Why not! Saint George is such a beautiful place, with the warm temperatures and peaceful red rock it’s one the greatest places to build or own a home.
