2017 Parade Of Homes
2017 PARADE OF HOMES
Though HiCaliber didn’t have a home in the parade this year, we have in the past and we know the amount of time and work that goes into making your masterpiece a show stopper. As builders, it is always nice to see what other contractors have up their sleeve. Not as a competitor, but to show support. For example, an artist will go to art galleries. Not because they want to copy the other artists ideas, but to show respect and possibly become inspired. This is true of the parade! We went and were BLOWN away with some of the designs and creativity. Each year there is something new and exciting to see. We highly recommend coming out and taking a look.
Wanting To Build?
The parade is a great way to see what layout you like, what works, and what you could do without. Also, if you are redecorating or remodeling, and you want to see first hand what type of paint color or finishes you like THE PARADE HAS IT ALL. Often, the vendors will be in the garage with sample pieces of what they have used in the home. It is a great way to talk to the experts!
A common detail was the “kid area.” Most of the homes had an area just for the kids. With nooks, ladders, and games, YOU NAME IT… They had it!
Some of the homes that were clearly built for those that want to retire offered a more laid back vibe, with great views. The focus was the master bedroom and the kitchen space.
Were ALL the Homes Decorated the same?
Design trends were interesting. Not all the homes followed the same color pallet. We did see quite a bit of grey paint and white back splash though. One thing we found shocking, the WALLPAPER! It’s making a come back. Open floor plans are a MUST when hosting that large of a show. Just think how large the space is when there isn’t any visitors!
Light colored bedding was popular as well. You kind of wanted to jump in and cuddle, but that’s frowned upon. Also, white in a child’s room could be asking for a whole lot of scrubbing. But let’s not think about the amount of cleaning one of these homes would require. It’s all for FUN right!
Who is to thank for the show?
SUHBA does such a fantastic job organizing this event every year. Hats off to them, the builders, and designers. It never disappoints!!! The level of traffic on the streets makes you appreciate the slower days, but having this many viewers is GREAT for the economy. A lot of homeowners who have been wanting to sell their homes take advantage of this time. Having this size of crowd and interested buyers is a great way to have a successful open house!
