What is your experience with professional carpet cleaners? If you’re like many, you’ve had a least one experience that was disappointing.

Maybe the spots came back, or your carpet shrunk. Maybe the edges came up.

Maybe you were told one price on the phone, and then the technician tried to sell you on services you didn’t need.

Carpet cleaning is a tricky business. That’s because there is no one-size-fits-all solution. That would be like asking ‘How much does a new house cost?’

Factors such as your carpet’s age and condition come into play. Also, how much carpet do you have? Some people seem to feel that carpet cleaning should be like shopping for groceries.

The more area that you want cleaned, the more it costs in terms of labor. Also, people think that all carpet cleaners are about the same. After, it’s just cleaning a carpet – how hard can that be, right?

That leads carpet cleaning companies into a pricing war in an effort to get business. Many times they will bid job too low, losing money on the deal. When they arrive at the house, they then try to ‘upsell’ everything.

Not all cleaning processes are the same, neither are the companies. Most will do a quick steam job before rushing off to their next appointment. They feel that they way to make money is through volume. What they forget, though, is they only have so many hours in a day.

If you want to have a thorough job done on your floors (getting all the dirt out) you need to hire a company that will take its time to do the job right. Sure you’ll pay more for their services.

But any company that takes your money and leaves you with floors that aren’t completely clean, or that gives you bad service, is over-priced.
