What To Do About Gum in the Carpet
Gum can be one of the more difficult things to remove from a carpet, unless you know a few simple tricks.
The first thing you need to do is to freeze it. Place a bag of ice on the gun and let it sit until the gum is hard, then break off as much gum as you can. Repeat the process as necessary.
Once you have as much as possible off, use a mild detergent to remove any sticky residue. Make sure that your rinse the area thoroughly until the detergent doesn’t produce any more suds. Failure to completely remove all detergent will result in the area getting dirty faster.
Sometimes, if the gum is too ground in, it may become necessary to trim a few strands of carpet. Remove as few as possible so that you don’t create a hole.
