Prepare Your Home For The Holidays
Who could use some tips to make this Holiday Season the Merriest?
We have found the best way to celebrate Christmas is by activating the senses SIGHT, HEAR, TASTE, SMELL, AND TOUCH.
See some of our ideas and suggestions below:
~SIGHT~
-PRESENTATION-
Make sure to incorporate holiday scenery. This can be done by decorating a tree, setting up a Christmas village, or decking out the mantle. WE recommend trying to keep the décor the same throughout your space. By keeping everything cohesive it gives the feeling of openness and organization. It enables the eye to focus. We try to make the tree in our homes the focal point, and then add to it by decorating surrounding areas with similar colors. If your upholstery needs a face lift, or your flooring has been trampled we are you go to business for restoration!
~HEARING~
One word MUSIC! Music can set the tone for any holiday gathering. If the party is kid friendly we suggest songs such as jingle bells, and Santa songs. If there is a more formal setting, we suggest classic tunes. Keep the volume at a level it can be heard, but won’t dominate the area. You want conversing to take place, loud music can prevent guests from being able to hear one another or… if you have “that one” uncle who raises his voice to be the center of attention, it can make a peaceful place rather obnoxious.
~TASTE~
It is important to cater to the guests. If you’re hosting a family get together with grandkids may we suggest some simpler menu items! Variety is always nice too. To prevent your brain from bursting… Invite the guests to bring something to contribute. This will prevent you, as the host, from getting overwhelmed. You can give the guest a category of what to bring and allow them to be creative with what they produce. Example… Fruit Salad, or just salad and they can decide what recipe to go with. This gives them some freedom, but prevents duplicate items from arriving.

~SMELL~
THIS IS SOOOOOOOO IMPORTANT! Homeowners, if you own an indoor pet GIVE US A CALL BEFORE THE PARTY! Your home needs to smell fresh and clean. Often times, pet owners become accustomed to the smells of their home without realizing there is an odor. Guests will enjoy their meal A LOT more if the air doesn’t smell of cat urine. It’s always a smart idea to have carpeting cleaned on a regular basis anyway! Pet owner or not, heavy traffic areas can become a trap for dirt and debris.
Some great Holiday scents are CRANBERRY, CINNAMON, OR PINE. Pine is a tricky smell because it has the ability to make your “fake” tree resemble a fresh cut tree. Just a little hint!
Having lit candles throughout the party is always a beautiful touch, with duel purposes – Fragrant + pretty. Just make sure to keep them out of the reach of children.
~TOUCH~
Guests will need a place to sit. Make sure to have adequate seating that is comfortable. We suggest upholstery cleaning to remove any stains, odor, and dirt from surfaces. Fluffy pillows are great accents to any couch or love seat. We have the latest and greatest equipment for this type of service.
AND MOST OF ALL ~ remember to have fun. If you are stressed, your guests will feel the tension and probably won’t stay long. Remember, time together is time well spent. If you are an attendee of a party, remember the hostess goes through A LOT of work, hostess gifts are always appreciated!
