HazMat Drill At Zion National Park

A HazMat exercise was recently performed by the Southwest Regional HazMat Team at Zion National Park.  Crews simulated the circumstances of a fuel spill. The purpose of the exercise was to demonstrate to Rockville, Springdale and the national park’s fire brigades how to handle this dangerous and messy situation.  This hazardous materials response team for Utah State is made up of several emergency response personnel from Fire, EMS and law enforcement agencies throughout Washington, Kane, Garfield, Iron and Beaver counties.  The team trains together once every month to prepare for hazardous materials incidents in the five counties of southwestern Utah.
