St. George Life Flight Helicopter

The first life flight medical helicopter based in St. George, Utah now allows crews to land in remote areas or accident scenes where time is of the essence. The new helicopter, which is based at Dixie Regional Medical Center, flies with a crew of three, including the pilot, and is designed to deliver emergency room services and has intensive-care capabilities.  Life flight aircraft are essentially mobile intensive care units with highly specialized emergency equipment and medical personnel to give care to the critically ill or injured patients.  In the past, life flight helicopters for southern Utah patients had to be dispatched out of Las Vegas or Salt Lake City.
